STATUS OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES IN PERU

The importance of foreign language in our country, the students can learn other cultures, especially an in demand language like english, portuguese, and italian, and having experience with a different culture looks good.  Other reason is when they have to travel plans involve only english speaking countries, they will want to learn a foreign language that is not their mother tongue and english.

In Peru the teaching of other languages is very scarce because in schools only teach 2 hours a week, in the last 15 years has increased as an official course, but there are academies, institutes where they can learn especially English, Portuguese, Italian, and other languages. The foreign language that has been taught is English, since it  is a requirement to know a second language apart from your mother tongue.

One of the opportunities is learning another language might give the students the chance to experience more interesting and innovative learning methods.

Other opportunity  will be a more confident traveler in the places where the students who studie a foreign language or additional language is spoken and they will gain a lot more from travel since they will be able to communicate with local people.

They can learn a language through watching movies or TV in that language, through joining a conversation group with other learners, even through immersion and study programmes in the country where the language is spoken.

Other option is that students could carry on basic conversations with people who speak tha language they being learn.

Statutus of forengin languages of Peru-ESTELITA

This report describes the status of foreign languages in Peru, the most spoken foreign languages in Peru is English. In the past 30 years, few Peruvians spoke a language other than Spanish. Now there are many companies that teach to speak a foreign language

1. Situation of teaching a foreign language in schools

In schools many times students do not have a teacher with a specialization in foreign languages. Another problem is the time they study the foreign language a week, students only have two hours a week, this usually happens in public schools, to learn English.

2. Scholarships to study abroad

Peruvians generally want to learn more, and we go outside the country to study or specialize. Diverse multiple and varied service entities offer scholarships to study in universities abroad, the problems that they are lost because the first requiment is to know the English languages.

3. Opportunities to learn a foreign language outside of school
As the educational system in both public and private schools is very poor as far as foreign language we speak have created many companies that teach foreign language for example ICPNA, BRITANICO, among others. All these offer basic, intermediate and advanced level certifications in the foreign language. For people who have no money these institutes offer scholarships to study so there are no excuses to learn a language other than Spanish.

4.Recommendations for people to learn a foreign language in Peru.
The first thing is that people who want to learn a foreign language have to know the culture of that language, practice it as much as possible, make short conversations and always be vocabulary. At first it seems difficult but little by little you become familiar with the language. They should put a lot of effort into the language they want to learn.

Knowing another language is so important for the globalization.

The importance of foreign languages in your country

English is considered the most important foreign language in Peru and other countries around the world because, as we know, English is the global language. Thanks to English we can travel around the world without problems of communication or to do some activity in other countries.

The current situation of foreign language teaching in schools:

In general, there are teachers that have the subject of English in schools and, they must be trained very frequently because English is a subject that has been included in the curriculum map during the evelen years of study that children have.

Opportunities for learning foreign languages outside of the school system:

In comparison with other foreign languages, English is the language that has more opportunities for learning outside of the school system, because there are a lot of institutions that teach English, most of them are American and have many years of experience.

Recommendations for improving people's foreign language ability in your country:

I think that the best recommendation is immerse yourself in the language and culture, because a language of any           country was built over the years so it suffered many changes, and if you study all of that you can learn in a better way.

There are many opportunities to learn English outside the school system as ICPNA and PRONABEC provide free scholarship, textbooks, etc.

In conclusion my recommendation to improve English learning is the will and decision of teachers, to improve as professionals and people, so that they seek to be trained every day more and innovate the methodology. In this way, students can be motivated to want to learn the language, to develop all their potential and to see beyond the borders.
