Biography of Nelson Mandela - Claudia Caballero

Nelson Mandela is working to end the unjust system of apartheid in South Africa so he's very respected by his people. Also he's recognized like the winner of Nobel Prize in peace and he was the first democratically president of South Africa.

Mandela was born in Qunu in 1918. He loved to listen the classical music in special Handel and Tchaikovsky and his favorite time of the day was the sunset. His first language was Xhosa one of the 11 official languages of South Africa. About his family, his parents was Gadla and Nodekeni and he had 3 sisters, he got married three times with Evelyn Ntoko in 1944, Winnie Madikizela in 1958, and Graca Machel in 1998.  His first job was when he was 5 years old, he worked herding family's cattle, but he wasn't neglected his studies. He started study in a mission school to then Union College of Fort Hare. He decided to study law in Jhiannesburg so in 1942 he joined African National Congress (ANC) to have different positions in 1947 he was the Youth League Secretary to then be the deputy Head of ANC in 1952. Unforunately he had some problems with government so he was sentenced to life term, but he was released after 27 years in 1990. One year then he returned to ACN like the president. 3 years later he decide to participated in the elections of his country and he was elected and governed for 5 years. In 1994, the year that he was elected he wrote his own biography with the title "Long Walk to Freedom"

Nelson Mandela fought for the rights of his people it wasn´t easier, but he did it. After his retirement he raised money for children's charities. He wanted improve the style of life of his country and help with all that he could.
